Chef (South Indian & Sri Lankan Cuisine)

💰 Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chef to take full responsibility for the preparation and cooking of authentic South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine at Curry Emporium. The role involves preparing food for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery services while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of South Indian and Sri Lankan dishes
- Manage high-volume food production with consistency and quality
- Ensure excellent presentation and taste across all menu items
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards
- Operate efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Work independently with minimal supervision
Required Culinary Skills
Candidates must have hands-on experience in preparing:
- Koththu Parotta
- Dosa, Idli, Wada
- String Hoppers & Hoppers
- Rotis, Naan, and Chapathi
- Vegetable & Meat Curries
- Traditional and modern South Asian rice dishes
- Desserts and sweets
- Street food starters (e.g., Ulundu Wade)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef specializing in South Indian & Sri Lankan cuisine
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety regulations
- Good command of English
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Willingness to relocate to Hawick, Scottish Borders
Working Hours
- 12-hour shifts
- Required to work on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturday and Sunday
